OUR HISTORY.

Levadeh was established in 2021 with the vision to create intentional communities in Detroit where residents own homes, schools, medical facilities, and businesses. This concept was designed to foster a sense of ownership and active participation in self and community care. From its inception, Levadeh has been committed to transforming this vision into reality, starting with outreach and support to the people of Detroit.

Our founder, LaVeta Victoria, has a lifelong passion for positive change and has been the driving force behind the organization. From a young age, LaVeta was always eager to help, offering support and insight to her community in various capacities. Her journey through Cass Tech High School to Wayne State University, studying psychology and law, shaped her understanding of human needs and community dynamics. LaVeta’s belief in the power of personal connection and growth led her to envision a world where communities support and nurture each individual.

VISION TO ACTION: BUILDING LEVADEH

LaVeta's diverse experiences across multiple sectors, including healthcare, financial services, legal mediation, and real estate, have been instrumental in shaping Levadeh’s philosophy. Her time in these fields, coupled with personal challenges like grieving loved ones lost to senseless acts of violence, overcoming postpartum depression, and confronting social impacts of the 2020 presidential election and COVID-19 pandemic, underscored the importance of strong, supportive communities in navigating life's complexities.

CORE VALUES: THE H.E.R.O. PHILOSOPHY

Our foundation is built on the H.E.R.O. values: Health, Education, Relationship, and Ownership. Inspired by LaVeta’s experiences and her faith, these values represent the pillars of a fulfilled and abundant life. They are a testament to her belief that people are more than their experiences and that growth occurs through connection and understanding.

ONGOING PROGRESS: MILESTONES OF IMPACT

Since its inception, Levadeh has made significant strides in community development. 'Just Us Talking', founded in 2014, has assisted nearly 350 families with conflict resolution and education. In 2022, the 'ValuAble' course was launched, mentoring women to harness their passions and strategize their goals, exemplifying Levadeh's commitment to individual and community empowerment.

LEVADEH TODAY: BUILDING OUT THE VISION

Today, Levadeh stands as a beacon of hope and transformation in Detroit. Under LaVeta’s leadership, the organization continues to work towards its vision of creating self-sustaining, interconnected communities. Levadeh is more than just an organization; it's a movement towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to live abundantly, rooted in health, education, relationships, and ownership.
