What Does it Mean to Live Healthy?

Levadeh’s first H.E.R.O value is focused on living a healthy lifestyle! I believe that your health may be the most foundational aspect of living a lifestyle of TRUE ABUNDANCE! Through my own recent health challenges, from anxiety to surgeries, I’ve learned that living healthy takes much more effort and intentionality than I previously realized! So, I wonder how many other individuals have had a similar realization?? Over the past 5 years, I’ve grown to understand that living healthy involves adopting habits and practices that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

While our specific needs may vary, there are some common indicators that can help you assess whether you are on the right track of a healthy life, or if you could apply a few tweaks to improve your wellness. I hope that as you read on, you’ll recognize some signs that will motivate - or inspire - you in your own pursuits of happiness.

  1. Regular Physical Activity: Engaging in regular exercise, such as walking, jogging, swimming, or other forms of physical activity, is a key component of a healthy lifestyle. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week, along with muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days per week.

  2. Balanced Diet: Consuming a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats is crucial for maintaining good health. Avoid excessive consumption of processed foods, sugary beverages, and unhealthy fats.

  3. Adequate Sleep: Getting sufficient and quality sleep is essential for overall health. Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Good sleep contributes to better mental health, improved cognitive function, and increased energy levels.

  4. Hydration: Staying adequately hydrated is important for various bodily functions. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and limit the intake of sugary and caffeinated beverages.

  5. Stress Management: Effectively managing stress is crucial for mental and emotional well-being. Practice stress-reducing techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, deep breathing exercises, or engaging in activities you enjoy.

  6. Maintaining a Healthy Weight: Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is associated with a lower risk of various health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. This involves a combinati#3BA1A5on of a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

  7. Regular Health Check-ups: Schedule regular health check-ups and screenings - with physicians and practitioners that you trust - to monitor your health status and catch potential issues early. This includes visits to the doctor, dental check-ups, and screenings for conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and cancer.

  8. Social Connections: Building and maintaining positive social connections can contribute to emotional well-being. Surround yourself with supportive friends and family, and engage in social activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

  9. Avoiding Harmful Substances: Minimize or eliminate the use of harmful substances such as tobacco, excessive alcohol, and recreational drugs. These substances can have detrimental effects on physical and mental health.

  10. Positive Mental Health: Pay attention to your mental health and seek support if needed. If you experience persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or other mental health concerns, consult with a mental health professional.

By no means does the priority of consideration have to go in this particular order. ALL of the areas mentioned above are expansive. Nor, am I implying that these suggestions are essential to experiencing wellness. I am saying that if there are changes that you’d like to make to improve in Body, Mind, and Soul - it definitely helps to have an idea of what those changes may be!

Please remember that achieving a healthy lifestyle is a gradual process, and it's important to make sustainable changes that work for you. As mentioned before, your individual health needs and goals may vary, so it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalized advice and guidance.
